Swimming Pool Boiler Installations

With the summer months comes dreams of holidays, warmer weather and swimming pools providing welcome relief from the heat of the sun. But, with the not so warm weather we’ve been having in the UK this summer, swimming pool boilers can help make the water that little bit warmer, especially on the colder days, when jumping into an icy pool doesn’t seem like the best idea.

At Taylor Pickering, our team of engineers work on all manner of boilers in both domestic and commercial premises and some of the boilers we service and install are those which help keep swimming pools running smoothly, providing temperature control which makes them pleasant to swim in.

It’s not only the benefit of having warmer water to swim in that makes swimming pool boilers so vital. When the water isn’t at the right temperature it can affect the pool equipment, making it require servicing more often, as well as having an effect on the pool hygiene levels and clarity of the water.

How Do Swimming Pool Boilers Work?

There are several different types of swimming pool boilers and swimming pool heating options to choose from. These include the following:

  • Gas boilers
  • Oil boilers
  • Heat pumps
  • Solar panels
  • Electric heaters

The gas boilers are the most commonly used of all swimming pool boilers which create heat by burning propane or natural gas to heat the water directly, or through an external heat exchanger.

They’re popular because they’re inexpensive, unlike oil boilers which tend to be more expensive to run, but are thought to be more effective.

Whichever swimming pool boiler system you choose, one of the biggest plus points of the gas boilers and oil boilers is that they can heat up the water relatively quickly, which is great for pools that aren’t used too often.

Other options are heat pumps which have been growing in popularity of late. They take heat from air or water, are highly efficient and have a long lifespan, but are quite expensive to buy. Another environmentally friendly option is solar panelling, but again these can be pricey to install and take much longer to heat the pool than traditional swimming pool boilers might.

On the flip side, electric heaters are cheap to install, but the most expensive to run, in addition to also taking a long time to heat up the water in a pool that’s used irregularly.
